My First Fun Run

Yesterday I joined my first fun run and I must say it was really tiring especially for someone who has no sleep and no exercise at all except for the warm up that was part of that event. Yes, it was tiring but it was fulfilling and inspiring at the same time. Fulfilling because I never realized that it wasn’t that easy until that day. There were a lot of times that I wanted to just stop and never finish the race or just do some shortcuts but during the race I had realizations that inspires me to go on and finish it.
There are a lot of reason why I finished the race. One, is the Delivery Lead of Accenture – GSKP really inspired me. I’m on the middle of the race and I was just walking already because I was so damn tired and I saw this big man who was passing through me – And he was GSKP. I can see and feel his tiredness but he never stop running though sometimes he just walked but still he didn’t stop. He inspired me not because he was GSKP but because I really felt his determination to finish it. I told myself I will not stop and I will finish this race even if I’m just walking most of the time.
I also saw a lot of couples running together even if the one can already go ahead and leave his/her partner, they chose to stick running together. I saw some who were really tired as well and they just walk together holding hands which I captured before I went ahead of them (bitter mode on. hahaha!)

I forgot to mentioned that I registered on this fun run because I wanted my “inaanak” Keisha to join with my friend, her mom Gudang (Godeth is her real name). And also I wanted to run with my teammates but for some personal reasons only James was able to run with us but I must say we really enjoyed it especially we got a lot of freebies from the booths after the run. And I also saw a lot of familiar faces from my previous teams and projects.

At first I actually registered for 5k (yabang) but thank God my friend Gudang ask me to run with her for 3k so we can easily catch-up with Keisha. But Keisha ended up running for 3k because Gudang was afraid that Keisha might be lost. So we run together though I went ahead of them because I was really determined at first to get a medal but after the gun start for 3k and I was just on the first U-turn I realized it wasn’t that easy as I was already gasping and having a hard time to breath so I started to slow down and walk and saw a lot of people behind me passing and went ahead of me.
There were a lot times that we – me and Gudang with Keisha – bumped into each other since the route of the race are just doing a lot of U-turns. It push me to go finish the race so that Keisha will be inspired not to stop the race as well. I was cheering Keish whenever I got to see them in the race. I was so proud of my inaanak seeing her finish the race with Gudang and surprisingly with James (who run for 5k). I ask Manong Bantay that I will just take a picture when I saw them close to the finish line.

I also remember this guy who is I think part of the committee who was riding a motorbike who gave a cheer to those runner who were almost near the finish line. “Go ma’am/sir, malapit na konti na lang.” He made me feel relieved that I’m close to the finish line. It helps. Honestly, after finishing the 3k race I felt the fulfillment. Sarap!!!!!
I have a lot of realizations after my first fun run aside from it was really tiring and it was not easy to get a medal 😁. I realized that I’m not healthy anymore. I get tired easily and it’s not a good sign. I need to get fit because I am accountable for this body and I have to be fit to be able to catch up with my lifestyle and I want to be healthy for my family and the people that surrounds me. I also realized that you can inspire people even if you are not aware of it with how you live your life. Live not just for yourself but also for the people you love and surrounds you. We can help other people by simply encouraging them  but you can encourage people effortlessly by living as example.
We need to realized that we are responsible for our actions and decisions that we make. Sometimes we choose to stop and do some shortcuts because we have to finish a race but at the end of the day it is not just finishing the race anymore it’s how we finish it.
This is my first run and it I’ll make sure that this will not be the last. This is the start of a new me.

My BFFs May and Des invited me to go on Visita Iglesia* yesterday, March 24, 2016, to visit 7 churches in Manila which at first I’m hesitant because I’m a little tired from a midshift work and I would want to just stay at home and get an 8hour sleep but I still chose to go with them because I want to tour around and take this time to catch-up with them and even before I’ve been wanting to go around the City of Manila and learn and discover more about it.

As planned we went to seven churches and take some time to pray and get a little tour around the city.

Here’s the list of 7 Churches that we visit sorted based on where we visit first and so on:

1. Santissimo Rosario Parish Church

This church is located inside the University of Sto. Tomas Campus where we also did the station of the cross which I’ll share in a separate blog.

Groufie at the first church we visited. (L-R: Des, me and May)

2. Quiapo Church

From the name of the church itself it is located in Quiapo, Manila where I was able to buy 4 pcs. lemon worth 50pesos👌🏻. I was not able to get a good shot of the outside of the church because the place is also famous of having pick pocketers and just to be safe we just keep our phones inside our bag. Since the place normally has a lot of people, especially every Wednesdays and Sundays, because of the devotees of Black Nazarene the volunteers in the church already place a system on the entrance and exit of the people which I admire because the volunteers strictly imposed the system which made it more organized and lessen the chance to have stampede.

Maybe the simplicity of this church made it more inviting to the devotees.

3. San Agustin Church

From Quiapo church ride a jeep going to San Agustin Church where we were awestruck with every single detail of this architecture. The rawness from the outside and the state of the art design in the inside especially the ceiling that just not have humongous chandeliers but a very eye captivating work-of-art.

The classy front view of this church.

Take a look at the ceiling this made the 3 of us say “Wow! Ang ganda!”.

4. Manila Cathedral

One of the famous church here in the Philippines would be Manila Cathedral. We were not able to get inside because the mass already started and it is full already where most of the people just watch the mass in the HD monitor outside the church. This is not my first time to visit this church but I must say I appreciate it more in the evening maybe because of the lightings.

5. Malate Church

From Manila Cathedral we went straight to Malate church which is just walking distance away since both are situated inside Intramuros. The church is not as big as the other churches that we visited but it carries its own uniqueness.

Unable to get better picture because it’s along the street where cars are passing which is across the Rajah Sulayman Park.

6. Shrine of Jesus the Way, the Truth and the Life

This church is near SM Mall of Asia. Looks like this church is the most recently built church amongst the churches that we visited. Inside you will feel the solemnity because of the music  and the lightings.

7. Baclaran Church
This church is my most visited church because this is where my parents attend Sunday services. This is where I saw a devotees who walks in the aisle while they were all in bended knees and most of them were guys who has covered faces and wearing black shirts.

All 7 churches has its own beauty and uniqueness just like how God created each one of us. Let us also remember that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and each one of us are part of the church. I was a Catholic then and chose to convert to be a Born Again Christian which I must say I am truly grateful because we do have one God and that is our one and only Savior Jesus which gave me a strong a foundation in my faith. Being a Christian now gave me a  wider perspective and understanding of my faith and knowing that God is everywhere I know and I choose to believe that having a personal, closer and deeper relationship with God is what truly important. Of course there are still a lot of differences in the beliefs but we still should stand firm and live with God, in God and for God alone.

I also believe that every church that are built are for fellowship and a place where we can praise and honor God and share the truth – His Word.

*Basically, Visita Iglesia is one of the Filipino tradition which normally being observed every Lenten Season by Catholic people where they visit 7 churches and pray.

Tattooed in Marriage

I have dreamt of myself having a tattoo in my body and God made me realized that having a tattoo is like committing in marriage. It will become a part of you. It’s permanent. You will be amazed how a beautiful art become a part of you. You will be proud and show it to the world. Probably, there will also a point in your life you will question yourself why you decided to have it or maybe you would want to change the art printed in your body but you will realize you can no longer erase it or if you will it will leave a mark that is not as beautiful as the art that you first decided to imprint in your body. But if you will learn to love the art in your body each and everyday and learn how to take care of it, it will be an art that many people will be appreciated and definitely something that will make you happy which will bring a complete joy in your heart.

Marriage is like a tattoo because it is a beautiful work of art that God created. You and your spouse will be one and become part of each other. The fact that you commit yourselves into marriage is a decision to be with that person permanently whatever your circumstances that no one can separate except God alone. Marriage is an art that each and everyday is a decision to stick to what you have committed in your vows. An art that should be taken cared of each and everyday once you started committing to it.

I am not into tattooing but I have a big respect to those who are brave enough to permanently put those artworks in their bodies. But my biggest respect for those couples who are faithful enough to stand and choose to be together for better or worse, in sickness and in health, till death do they part. The art of tattooing is painful enough for everyone to see that beautiful artwork in your body just like marriage it is being work on everyday and allowing God to finish this wonderful art called MARRIAGE.

Worrying Ahead

worrying ahead

I was about to go home from work and my colleagues from the other building told me about the traffic in front of our building and so I checked it for myself. Indeed the cars are piling up. And so I decided to stay because I was worried that I might just be stranded because of the traffic. Until one of my colleagues told me if I wont leave the office, there will be no difference I will just be stranded. And so I decided to go with her and when I was about to approached the line on the taxi bay there I saw that the traffic isn’t really existing. The cars are just piling up because of the bottle neck because there is just one way going to the taxi bay line.

Sometimes we tend to worry too much of things we shouldn’t really worrying about. Eventually we realized that the things we worry too much are not really existing which makes us away from the things or people more important to us like our relationship with our friends, family and God. Sometime it preoccupies our time instead of focusing on what should we really are doing or spending time to a more valuable and important to us. When worries are on our way let us use the time to pray and talk to God who understand us always and know what future lies ahead. Let us live by faith and not by sight.

Cab Song

cabsong♫♪Whatever you do?
I’ll be two steps behind you
Wherever you go?♫♪
I’ll be there to remind you
♫♪That it only takes a minute of your precious time to turn around, I’ll be two steps behind .♫♪

While I was on my way home this song was played though I wasn’t able to grasp the whole lyrics and I’m not really sure what’s the message of the entire song. I only heard the latter part of the song which I believe the chorus of the lyrics that just keeps on repeating until the song fades.
It feels like God is talking in each line.

1st line: WHATEVER YOU DO?
>>Normally, we are so busy with our work, studies, family, friends or simply with our lives. We have a lot of things to do that it seems one day is not enough for everything.

>>God reminds us that despite of our busy schedule, He is incomparably ALWAYS there waiting for us to talk to HIM. Why two steps? Because 1st, it’s a DECISION to make from yourself that you need and want Him and find time to talk to Him. You don’t need to spend a load or even a single centavo just to talk to Him.
2nd step is to TALK TO HIM or in short PRAY once you have decided to spend your time with Papa God this is it.. Pray does not require you to go to “church”. Remember our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). We can pray or talk to Papa God whatever, wherever or whenever we are. But take note that doesn’t mean we no longer have to attend mass or sunday service. That’s a big NO! NO!

3rd line: WHEREVER YOU GO?
>>Wherever we are God is there. God is everywhere. He can be inside or outside of our heart, it always depends on us if we allow Him to enter our lives or not. God sometimes allow things happen to help us draw into Him. I, myself is a witness on His ways and each and everyday God made me feel amazed and grateful how loving and forgiving He is.

>>Just like the famous line “God moves in mysterious ways.” God never fail to remind us in His so many ways to give His message, revelation or reminder. Remember God does not live in church alone we can experience God everywhere. God uses everything around us, whether your family, friends, relatives, or anyone whom just bump into. A thought, a billboard, a song just like this where that I almost wrote another blog, a message from a book or whatever you can think of. God is truly a resourceful God. He is a truly amazing God.

>>God does not require your whole day to pray. Isn’t it a precious time with HIM is like our time for ourselves to breath, relax or outburst all the tensions, worries and fears. We can tell everything to God wherein you cannot be judge or mock. You can cry on to Him or simply just share a story like how you share with your friends or family. We can confess and ask Him for forgiveness for our sins. Remember He is a sweet, loving and forgiving God. Let us start and/or end our day talking to Him.

Forever Young

“I am strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey.”
Joshua 14:11

I always felt that my parents treat me as a kid who always need to be dictated what to do or not. I used to cover it with a reason that I am the only child in the family so I understand but it still made me feel offended especially now that I’m already 26 . Something inside my head ask me, do you really act as a mature woman? I stopped and realized, I’m not. Same when I was a kid, I don’t help my parents in household chores, I don’t even fix my own room, I spend most of my time at home watching tv, or playing games in the computer until late at night and now, what do I expect? My parents treat me as a kid because I act as one not because of any reason.

I’m one of the eldest in my cousins both in my mother and father side which reminds me of the verse in Joshua on how Caleb had been a good example to the people decade after decade. If I will stick on my attitude how will I become a good example to the people around me. Psalm 39:4 also reminds me that my time on earth is numbered and not a permanent thing. I can still be considered as young but only God can say my remaining time.

Father, as I progress today I pray Father that you will guide me and give me a responsible heart and mind. I pray Father for your grace for me to become a mature woman that you want me to be so that I will be a good example to the people around me. And as the people around me see the changes and maturity in me I pray Father that they will see you through me. I lift everything to you Father and always let Your will be done. In Jesus, mighty name I pray, Amen.

When God made you He must have been thinking of….

When I first heard the song When God Made You by Newsong I felt so kilig* and I uttered to myself I wish I could sing this with my special someone on my wedding day. Well, I think this song was really created for a couple and mostly heard on a wedding day but just this morning while humming and singing some lyrics that I remembered from the song;

♪♫”When God made you, He must have been thinking about me.”♪♫.

God made me realized that this song is reminding me how special I am in God’s sight, how special we all are in our Heavenly Father’s eyes that even when He was creating the people around us (our parents, siblings, friends, relatives, boyfriend or husband, girlfriend or wife or even the people that we will just bump into) He was still thinking of us. Imagine that!? I can’t help myself but share this wonderful feeling and put it into writing on my blog.

We are not just created to make our own dreams come true but other’s dreams as well. You might think or ponder that your life is just a waste and no one loves you or cares for you. I’m telling you God loves you (John 3:16) and He knows you so well that even the number of strands of your hair are known to Him (Matthew 10:30-31). That’s how special you are to Him. He created everything for you.

Think of this;
You are a gift perfectly made from God to other creations. You might be the girl of others dream or the guy she’d been waiting for. You might be the answer to other’s prayer because when God made you, He must have been thinking about others too…

Share your life and spread God’s love.

To spread more love here is the lyrics of the song When God Made You.

by Newsong featuring Natalie Grant

Its always been a mystery to me,
How two hearts can come together,
And love can last forever.
But now that I have found you I believe,
That a miracle has come when God sends the perfect one.
So gone are all my questions about why,
And i’ve never been so sure of anything in my life

Oh I wonder what God was thinking, when he created you.
I wonder if He knew everything I would need,
Because he made all my dreams come true.
When God made you, He must have been thinking about me.

Ooo ooo,I promise that wherever you may go, wherever life may lead you,
With all my heart I’ll be there too.
And from this moment on I want you to know,
I’ll let nothing come between us, and I will love the ones you love.
(guy)o gone are all my questions about why (girl echoes):about why

Oh I wonder what God was thinking when he created you,
I wonder if He knew everythin I would need,
Because He made all my dreams come true.
When God made you He must’ve been thinking about me.

He made the sun He made the moon,
To harmonize a perfect tune,
One can’t do without the other they just have to be together.
And that is how I know its true,
Your for me and i’m for you and my world
Just cant be right without you in my life

(Guy) He must have heard every prayer I’ve been praying (girl echo)
I’ve been praying (both)He must’ve knew everything I would need

When God made you, He must’ve been thinking about me.♪♫

*kilig is a tagalog word means to tremble or shudder in delight
